The Common Oral Health Issues and How to Address ThemOral health issues often occur among children and adults. Different factors cause them, and dentists, the problems are addressed using specific solutions that cater to their improvements. Knowing the common health issues is necessary since it keeps you alert and helps you make early detection that can help to prevent their progress.

Dental Cavities

Dental cavities are lesions that result from the activity of bacteria that destroys tooth tissues. They develop from any age from any moment when milk teeth erupt. The lesions come from poor dental hygiene; thus, proper dental cleaning rituals are the best way to prevent cavities.

Also, dentists use dental fillings to get rid of cavities. It's a treatment method that involves filling the teeth with holes with a composite material.

Gingivitis

Gingivitis causes inflammation of the gums due to the activity of bacteria that develops from the accumulation of tartar. Also, bleeding appears when brushing the teeth. To address gingivitis, dentists apply professional dental hygiene that ensures proper cleaning of tartar and plaque from the teeth.

Periodontitis

Periodontitis is advanced gingivitis when not treated. It occurs when the bacteria activity previously causing gingivitis attacks the bone teeth. Periodontitis signs include bad breath and gum deterioration.

To treat periodontitis, dentists use dental tests to determine the depth of accumulated tartar. Then the dentist performs a dental curettage to clean out the subgingival area.

Halitosis or Bad Breath

Halitosis is a common oral health issue that causes unpleasant odors out of the oral cavity. The foul smell is due to poor dental hygiene, periodontal disease, or prolonged tobacco use. Hence properly cleaning the tongue is a suitable way to address destructive breath issues. The above oral health issues are easily treated and managed if detected early therefore, you should seek a dental checkup to know the state of your oral health.
